The strange and spectacular journey of Raycharles Lamontagne started with a 1999 epiphany, when, while on shift at a Maine shoe factory, he heard a Stephen Stills song and was inspired to pursue a music career. After years of extensive touring, he recorded the album Trouble in the space of two weeks. It was released in September of 2004 and incidentally features a performance by Stephen Still's daughter, Jennifer. Spurred by the success of the album's title track and boosted by lending select songs to television shows, Trouble became a worldwide hit. He followed with 2006's Till The Sun Turns Black. Lamontagne's soulful and sensitive strumming lends comparisons to Nick Drake and Van Morrison, and GQ magazine called a Ray Lamontagne concert one of the sexiest places on the planet to take a girl.
