Born and raised on the west side of Chicago, Wasalu Muhammad Jaco, aka Lupe Fiasco joins Kanye West and Common as another of the Windy City's prominent hip-hop voices. Raised by a professional drummer father and a gourmet chef mother, Lupe was introduced to a life of creative expression and artistic appreciation early on. His rhymes weave together aspects of his Muslim upbringing with tales of urban life and strife, and even cite his longtime fascination with Japanese anime. After a few promotional releases, Lupe was able to team up with Tha' Rayne and then Kanye West before releasing 2006's Food & Liquor. Food & Liquor led to three Grammy® nominations including Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song for "Kick, Push." In addition to being one of hip-hop's hottest newcomers, Lupe Fiasco signed a sweet endorsement deal with RBK (Reebok) and also hosts FNF Radio, an online radio show focusing on music, cut with lively discussions of politics, music, sports and entertainment.
