Dirty Pretty Things
A celebrity falling from grace sells papers. So, rarely does a day go by without some jumped-up hack referencing "crazy" "bonkers" "la-la-ga-ga" ex-Libertine Pete Doherty, today was our day. Carl Barât lead singer and song writer with Dirty Pretty Things and former Libertine, should be ruddy proud of himself. He's done what every artist aspires and let the band's music do the talking. "I wanted to keep it about music and not about all the other nonsense." Yet, if the new single "Bang Bang Your Dead" is anything to go by it's not without some disdain towards the goings-on of the past few years: "…there was nothing but spite, fury and lies in the words that you read". Similarly, "Blood Thirsty Bastards" continues the vitriolic tirade, as does the poetically named "You Fucking Love It", a tad presumptuous perhaps, but yes, of course we do.
